Switzerland: 1Q Health strengthens European CDMO offering with acquisition of Gelpell

-

European CDMO Group 1Q Health, part of Nord Holding’s portfolio, is continuing its growth across Europe with the acquisition of Swiss softgel expert Gelpell, a full-service manufacturer of premium dietary supplements.

Gelpell marks 1Q Health Group’s fifth acquisition since it was established and its second this year, following the EHF Production transaction, as the group takes another step in long-term strategy to build a strong European CDMO network with complementary technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and supply-chain security for its customers.

With more than 20 years of experience, Gelpell supports supplement brands with high-quality capsule production and tailored full-service solutions, helping customers turn supplement ideas into market-ready products. The company’s portfolio of various capsule products also includes the patented GELPELL technology, using gelatin-based beads for enhanced bioavailability.

In addition to the new product and technology capabilities, the acquisition brings Switzerland into 1Q Health’s manufacturing footprint for the first time.

“Gelpell is an excellent addition to the 1Q Health Group because it combines Swiss quality and strong capsule expertise while reinforcing our commitment to science-based, highly innovative supplement solutions,” says Philipp Ziehr, CEO of 1Q Health.

The decision to become part of the 1Q Group is the right one for Gelpell, according to CEO, Thomas Jager. “It opens new opportunities for us, strengthens our future, and gives us the chance to continue growing on a solid foundation,” he said.

Kristina Edvinsson, founder of Gelpell, and Tomas Edvinsson will support the further growth of 1Q Health, focusing on the Asian market. Along with Jager, they will also become shareholders of 1Q Health.

Investec Switzerland acted as sole financial advisor to Gelpell. SwissLegal acted as legal and tax advisor.
