Finland: Legrand Care strengthens in Nordics with Axel Health

-

Legrand Care, a specialised technology division within the Legrand Group – a global specialist in electrical and digital infrastructures for buildings, headquartered in France and listed on Euronext Paris – has strengthened its international market position with the acquisition of Finland-based Axel Health from Nordic growth investor Standout Capital and other shareholders.

Legrand Care develops and provides connected healthcare and assisted living solutions for home care, residential care, and hospital environments. The acquisition strengthens Legrand Care’s position in the Nordics and supports its long-term vision of creating a sustainable and interconnected health and care system. It follows acquisitions of Enovation in 2024 (from Main Capital Partners) and Performation in 2025 (from Gilde Healthcare).

“This acquisition is a natural next step in our growth strategy across the Nordics,” said Chris Dodd, CEO Legrand Care. “Axel Health has built a strong reputation in patient flow management and its solutions complement our digital care platform exceptionally well.”

By joining forces new opportunities are being created to expand the market for digital healthcare solutions in Finland and strengthen the presence in Sweden.

Founded in 2008, Axel Health is the market leading patient flow management (PFM) solution in the Nordics with customers ranging from the largest university hospitals to smaller healthcare providers. The software solution handles patient self-check-in and guidance through the hospital visit, reducing patient queues and freeing up hospital resources as well as hospital operational planning. The software solution is provided on a subscription basis.

“Joining Legrand Care creates exciting opportunities for our customers, employees and partners,” said Ilari Laaksonen, CEO Axel Health. “Together we can accelerate the development of innovative solutions that strengthen patient engagement and patient flow management.”

Standout Capital invested in Axel Health in May 2019 and has supported Axel Health’s transformation from a Finnish software provider into becoming the Nordic leader in PFM, through professionalising the organisation, broadening the product suite, and expanding into the Swedish market.

“The growth (recurring revenues 3x, EBITDAC 4x) that the company has achieved in a sector that has endured massive budget constraints is a testament to the value of their offering.” says Erik Wästlund, co-founder of Standout Capital.

Axel Health was advised by Avance Attorneys and by MCF Corporate Finance (Erik Pettersson, Robert Sällström, Johanna Tell, Amos Aaltio, Jakob Scott) as exclusive M&A advisor.
