Germany: Gilde adds Bentec to growing group of surgical instrument contract manufacturers

-

Gilde Healthcare’s group of contract manufacturers for complex surgical instruments and implants – Surgical Precision Instruments (SPI) – is acquiring Germany-based Bentec Endoscopy, which specialises in high-precision instruments, components and assemblies for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures.

The transaction marks another milestone in Gilde building a leading group for the contract manufacturing of surgical instruments. With Bentec, SPI will grow to over 380 skilled specialists across five sites in southern Germany.

For Bentec, SPI’s scale and resources provide the backing to grow its endoscopy business further. Its founder, Ewald Bacher, and managing directors, Désirée Bacher-Zwick, and Bastian Bacher, see the deal as opening “an exciting new chapter for our company.”

For SPI, the acquisition extends the group’s offering and adds complementary production capabilities. “Bentec extends our capabilities into flexible and semi-flexible endoscopy instruments, allowing us to serve our customers across a broader range of minimally invasive applications,” said Dr Christian Stark, CEO of SPI.

Gilde Healthcare established SPI through the acquisitions of Chr. Diener (2022) and Koscher & Würtz (2023). In January 2026, it added Rudischhauser (2026), and plans to add more companies as the market consolidates.

“The acquisition of Bentec is another important step in building a leading group in the contract manufacturing of surgical and endoscopic instruments and implants,” said Rafael Natanek, general partner at Gilde Healthcare. “[It’s] high-precision manufacturing expertise, long-standing customer relationships and product range fit SPI’s existing offering exactly, making the company a strong addition to the group”.
