UK: Winncare acquires UK hospital bed distributor Montcalm International

-

The Winncare Group, a France-based manufacturer of medical devices, has acquired Montcalm International, a UK-based provider of high-end beds to hospitals, hospices and care facilities.

Montcalm International, with a turnover of £2.6m, has enjoyed a strong reputation in the market for more than two decades for its specialty bed offerings, particularly in the bariatric, falls prevention and mental health segments.

Winncare, chaired by Laurent Faugère, is positioned in two strategic markets, home care and specialised establishments (nursing homes, hospitals and other care structures). The group offers a range of products including medical beds, therapeutic mattresses and cushions, pressure ulcer prevention solutions, transfer aids, mobility solutions as well as connected objects and fall management solutions.

Faugère said that the acquisition will enable Winncare to “offer its customers first-class medical beds, in addition to our pressure ulcer prevention solutions, fall management and transfer systems.”

Winncare’s portfolio has been strengthened in recent years, both through organic growth and acquisitions. It already has an international presence with five sales subsidiaries (France, UK, Spain, Denmark and Poland) and 12 production sites (France, UK, Spain, Poland and Tunisia). It generates nearly €160m in revenue and employs more than 900 people.

French private equity group Siparex ETI and Capza, the private investment arm of AXA, acquired a majority stake in Winncare from IDI in 2021. In March of 2026, Winncare’s capital structure was reorganised, with Capza and IDI selling their shares and the management team increasing its stake. The transaction marked the reinvestment of Siparex ETI (majority shareholder since 2021), Crédit Agricole, and BNP Paribas Développement, as well as the entry of Kartesia as a new shareholder. Since 2021, Winncare has acquired Pharmaouest and Scemed in France, as well as Herida Medical and Five Mobility in the UK.

Alexandre Tremblin, Thomas Oillic and François Bracchi, partner and directors of Siparex ETI said that the acquisition marks a new stage in the firm’s development strategy. “[It] strengthens Winncare’s presence in the UK market for specialised medical beds, consolidates the group’s position in a strategic market and opening up new prospects for growth and synergies.”

The deal will also accelerate the development of its rental and service activities through Five Mobility and to consolidate its presence in acute care facilities and hospices. It will also promote the development of commercial synergies between Montcalm’s solutions and Winncare’s pressure ulcer prevention and transfer ranges.
