Italy: OMX Groupe enters Italian market with acquisition of Next Medical

-

France-based OMX Groupe, a medical technology distribution group. has completed the acquisition of Next Medical, an Italy-based distributor of medical devices in the fields of orthopaedics, traumatology and plastic surgery.

This transaction marks OMX’s entry into the Italian market and strengthens its European network.

Founded in 2010 by Tommaso Cherubino, Next Medical has built a portfolio of technologies, including Acumed (plates and screws for orthopaedics and trauma), MicroAire (hand surgery, plastic surgery, and power-assisted liposuction), and Austofix (intramedullary nailing).

Cherubino becomes a significant shareholder in the group, will continue to lead Next Medical. He will also coordinate OMX’s orthopaedics segment, with increased resources to accelerate both organic and external growth.

OMX Groupe was founded in 2023 by Thomas Ringeisen and Léo Spector. Backed by Entrepreneur Invest as a minority investor, the group has been consolidating the fragmented French specialised healthcare distribution market. In July, Kartesia, a European specialist provider of capital solutions for small and mid-sized companies, provided unitranche financing to support OMX Group in its next phase of growth in Europe. OMX, now the leading French group in specialised MedTech distribution, active in seven therapeutic areas, has made 14 acquisitions to date, and is continuing in its buildout strategy.
