Ireland: InfraVia-backed Mater Private Network secures €520m seven-year debt facility

-

Mater Private Network (MPN), Ireland’s leading private hospital group backed by InfraVia, announces the successful completion of a €520m (US$603m) seven-year senior secured debt facility. The deal, provided by a pool of commercial banks – AIB, Bank of Ireland, Intesa Sanpaolo, Nord/LB and Alpha Bank – and funds managed by two institutional infrastructure debt investors – BNP Paribas Asset Management and Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management – refinances a financing package raised in 2022 and also provides additional capex to support growth.

“The new financing structure provides the flexibility and capacity required to support the company’s continued investment in high-quality patient care across Ireland and next phase of development,” said Pauline Fiastre, financing director at InfraVia.

MPN, which operates over a national network of 11 locations, has developed expertise in highly specialised areas including heart and vascular, cancer, spine and orthopaedics. It plays an important role in the Irish healthcare system, where private healthcare represents a significant part of overall care delivery.

“This refinancing provides MPN with a strong financing framework to continue investing in our people, facilities, technology and services . . . while further strengthening our contribution to the Irish healthcare system,” said Daragh Kavanagh, CFO of MPN.

InfraVia, founded in 2008, is a France-based independent private equity firm specialising in real assets (infrastructure, critical metals, real estate) and technology investments. It invested in MPN in 2018 to support the evolution of a group of high-performing healthcare assets into a “more integrated, scaled and resilient healthcare platform,” according to Bruno Candès, partner at InfraVia through sustained investment in capacity, state-of-the-art medical infrastructure and digital transformation.

Mater Private was advised by Jefferies as exclusive debt adviser and Arthur Cox as legal counsel. Lenders were advised by Mason Hayes & Curran.
