Czech-based Everita Capital a growth investor in Central European SMEs, has acquired a majority stake in Clintrial, a Prague-based clinical trial centre.
Clintrial was established in 2005 by Dr Zdeněk Šolle and his wife Barbora as a facility that initially carried out clinical trials in the field of psychiatry. It later moved on to cover neurology and diabetology. Now, it is also focused on obesity, gastroenterology, cardiology, haematology, pneumology, phlebology and dermatology. It has enrolled over 1,000 patients and contributed to more than 100 Phase II and III clinical trials.
The founders remain invested in the business.
With Everita, Clintrial will look to its the next stage of growth: expanding capacity, entering new therapeutic areas, and building a broader network of clients, physicians, and healthcare providers. The firm is also strengthening its leadership with the appointment of Tomas Brezina. With over 25 years in pharmaceuticals and biotech, including eight years as CEO of Amgen in the Czech Republic, he brings the industry expertise to drive the company’s expansion.
This deal also marked the addition of new investors to the Everita Fund, including Rentea, and offered co-investment opportunity to its existing LPs.
