Maguar Capital, a German technology investor specialising in small and mid-sized B2B software companies, has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Schlafender Hase, a content verification platform built for regulated industries.
“Schlafender Hase has built an outstanding market position,” said Johannes Losbichler, partner at Maguar Capital. “We were particularly impressed by the company’s exceptional technology, deep domain expertise and long-standing customer relationships – a strong foundation for future growth.”
As part of the transaction, Wieland Capital, a German family office investing in established medium-sized companies, and one of the company’s co-founders will significantly reinvest and support Schlafender Hase in its next phase of growth. Wieland Capital invested in 2017.
“With Maguar, we have found a partner who shares our partnership-oriented philosophy and long-term perspective for the company and brings deep software expertise that will be instrumental in enabling the company’s continued growth and international expansion,” said Franck Godet, partner at Wieland Capital.
With its content verification software, Schlafender Hase enables leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies to reliably identify and eliminate the risk of critical errors in documents, packaging, artwork and labelling. Since its founding in 2001, the company has established itself as one of the technologically leading specialists in pharma content and artwork verification. It employs around 40 people.
The firm’s next phase of development will focus on expanding the international go-to-market organisation and supporting the development of the web-based platform. It also has plans to expand into adjacent regulated industries.
“We look forward to working with the management team around André Cerbe and Constantin Dony, as well as the former shareholders, to shape the company’s next phase of growth,” said Markus Schunk, partner at Maguar Capital. “We see significant potential to further strengthen its leading market position.”
