JLL Partners, a US-based middle-market private equity firm focused on healthcare, has completed the acquisition of Life Couriers, a Germany-based international group of specialised logistics service operators focused on life science and healthcare logistics, from Auctus Capital Partners. At the same time, the company announced the appointment of Edward DeMartini as CEO.
“We are pleased to close the acquisition of Life Couriers at a time where we are seeing heightened demand for crucial radiopharmaceutical and medical logistics solutions,” said Daniel Di Piazza, managing director at JLL Partners and a member of the board of directors of Life Couriers.
Headquartered in Munich, Life Couriers specialises in transporting and handling time-critical healthcare and life science material across six core business segments: radiopharma, life sciences, stem cell onboard, direct-to-patient, pharma freight and emergency logistics. It has operations located throughout the US, Europe, Central America and Asia.
Through the acquisition, Life Couriers will benefit from new investment in its people and operations. It intends to expand into additional geographic regions.
DeMartini, who succeeds Stefan Glebke, has more than 20 years of experience across the specialty healthcare logistics and global transportation industries. He joins from The Quick Group of Companies, a leader in global time-critical transportation and logistics solutions and a subsidiary of Kuehne + Nagel, where he served as CEO.
