Lithuania: Sectra strengthens position as provider of advanced, regulatory-approved AI solutions for diagnostic imaging with acquisition of Oxipit

-

Sweden-based international medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra has completed the acquisition of Lithuania-based Oxipit, a pioneer in autonomous AI for radiology and the developer of the first solution with CE Class IIB certification for autonomous chest X-ray analysis. The deal strengthens Sectra’s position as a provider of advanced, regulatory-approved AI solutions for diagnostic imaging.

Since 2017, Oxipit has been building radiology tools that analyse chest X-rays, support faster diagnoses, and ease the workload for clinical teams. Oxipit’s CXR Suite is a certified, powerful portfolio of radiology AI tools designed to streamline chest X-ray diagnostics from start to finish.

“With the acquisition of Oxipit, we’re adding a new dimension to our AI offering: autonomous AI that can genuinely reduce radiologists’ workload in daily clinical practice,” says Torbjörn Kronander, president and CEO of Sectra. “Equally important, we’re acquiring the clinical validation and regulatory expertise required to deploy this category of AI responsibly at scale.”

Sectra now owns and will further develop ChestLink, Oxipit’s flagship product and the world’s first autonomous AI for normal chest X-rays. ChestLink was already available through Sectra Amplifier Marketplace for AI.

The Oxipit team will operate as a dedicated AI development centre within Sectra’s Imaging IT Solutions operating area. Alongside Sectra’s own capabilities, Sectra’s Amplifier service will remain an open, vendor-neutral ecosystem.

The acquisition will be financed using Sectra’s own funds and comprises an upfront cash consideration and an additional contingent consideration linked to commercial and regulatory milestones.

Financial terms are not disclosed.
