Kester, a UK-based mid-market buy-out fund focused on the Life Sciences and Technology sectors, has made a minority investment in Ireland-based Nutritics, a food data management software platform. Kester’s investment will accelerate Nutritics’ growth, drive new product development and support expansion into the US market, both organically and via acquisition.
“Nutritics is an exceptional business that operates in a large market, underpinned by long-term regulatory tailwinds,” said Adam Maidment, managing partner of Kester. “We are delighted to . . . support Nutritics in realising its full potential.”
Nutritics, founded in 2013 by brothers Damian O’Kelly (sports nutritionist) and Ciarán O’Kelly (designer & technologist) with a clear goal to be the world’s most trusted source of food data, is a food data management software platform for the foodservice and hospitality sectors. Its subscription-based platform is underpinned by a database of granular and structured data on more than 1.5 million foods; with functionality across allergen tracking, recipe management and menu publishing, enabling its customers to ensure compliance with industry regulations, improve food safety and reduce cost.
The firm operates in a large market that is supported by strong secular tailwinds, including regulation, driving accelerated adoption of software and data solutions to support compliance with allergen, calorie and nutrition disclosure obligations. Kester’s investment will accelerate Nutritics’ growth, drive new product development and support expansion into thestrategically important US market, both organically and via acquisition.
“We are delighted to announce this investment from Kester,” said Stephen Nolan, CEO of Nutritics. “Finding the right partner was critical for us and . . . we are excited about partnering with them for the next phase of our growth.”
Nutritics represents Kester’s first investment from its latest fund, Kester Capital IV, which recently held its first and final close at its hard cap of £425m.
DC Advisory (Justin Pursell, Michael Moriarty, Devin Balapatabendi, Adedamola Fashina, and Ovie Ototahor) was exclusive financial advisor to Kester.
